Clayton Eshleman was born June 1, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He began writing whilst attending Indiana University (1953-1961) and traveled widely afterwards. Eshleman was the publisher and editor of "Caterpillar" magazine from 1969 to 1973. In the year 1973-74, he lived in France where most of his poems were written. First paperback edition.
