508pp; This book is an incredible look at history from an 1876 perspective going back to Biblical times; These papers were originally published in Harper's New Monthly Magazine, and then were compiled for this book; I can find no firm proof that this is from a first printing, but the date on the title page matches the date on the copyright page (at that time, the Act of Congress date); Maroon boards with gilt lettering have substantial bumping and rubbing, but the binding is very tight; There is tape reinforcement along the front inside cover; Owner's name on front inside cover; Pages are yellowed, but are tight and clean; The number 3260 appears at the bottom of the Preface page, but I'm not sure if this was a numbered edition, or signifies something else.
