A very well-preserved copy of a scarce item; a special presentation edition produced for the Roxburghe Club, from the personal collection of Lord Kenyon, as highlighted by red print on the Roxburghe member's page along with Kenyon's signature to the front endpaper, and an inserted letter of dedication from the publisher. Beautifully illustrated with a complete set of 160 image plates, of which 11 are in colour. Gilt top page edge remains bright & clear. Other page edges are roughly cut, but the contents are otherwise free from any notable signs of wear. Bound in original red leather (quarter) with gilt titles and red cloth - covers bear some small cosmetic bumps and scrapes, mostly to edges, and leather at base of spine has begun to split - otherwise firm, secure, and very attractive.
