A scarce volume which includes first edition copies of Beaumarchais' 'Le Barbier de Seville' (1775) and 'Eugenie' (1767), Dorat's 'Roseide' (1780), and a French translation of Lessing's 'Les Juifs' (1781), bound together in a single half leather vol with marbled paper covered boards late 19th Century? Internally the pages are quite delicate, and also bear some damp staining, and light foxing throughout, along with additional wear and tear to page edges. Notably, of the first play, pages 51-4 and 61-4 are missing or partially missing, whilst 83-4 and 129-132 are more severely worn. The three latter plays are complete but with occassional rough page edges As a whole, the binding remains firm and secure, whilst the page edges bear some browning and spotting, and the covers bear some general light wear commensurate with the item's age including rubbing, knocks and bumps.
