The Oxfordshire Way is a sixty-five mile long marked walk through rural Oxfordshire, from Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds to Henley-on-Thames in the Chilterns. The route was originally conceived and described in the early 1970s by the Oxfordshire branch of the Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) who, with the assistance of other interested groups, explored, trod and surveyed the route and produced a guide for the use of those who wished to follow it. The Oxfordshire Way is now the responsibility of Oxfordshire County Council's Countryside Service who carefully maintain the route as an amenity. This new guide, edited by Faith Cooke and Keith Wheal of the Countryside Service, has fully revised and expanded the original CPRE guide by Alison Kemp and includes: The Oxfordshire Way divided into 16 walks with full route descriptions; comprehensive and easy to follow maps; notes on places of interest, history and natural history of the routes; advice on public transport and places for refreshment and accommodation on the way; drawings and photographs 82 pages.
