Size: 4 1/4" x 2 3/4". Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Printed yellow wraps, 16 pages, illustrated. This 1850 chapbook makes an early mention of baseball: “There are a great number of games played with Balls, of which Base-Ball, Trap-Ball, Cricket, Up-Ball, Catch-Ball, and Drive Ball, are the most common.” It features an in-text illustration of children playing baseball, as well as, a full-page engraving titled: “A Party of Ball Players.” Wraps stained, worn around edges, some staining on interior, still highly readable and overall in good condition.
