This copy has been re-backed with gilt stamped three-quarter red leather, 349 pages, Family Sketches, Index, Index to Family Sketches, engraved portraits of famous men (many with original tissues), also black-and-white photographs of famous men; unlike many of these types of volumes, however, there are no engravings of residences. While title page is present, some pages apparently missing since the preface is page number 7, corners and spine ends lightly bumped, original cloth binding on covers scuffed, front hinge cracked and weak, title page has short tear as well as paper missing at bottom near gutter, interior pages lightly toned some light's sporadic foxing at some of the engravings that have tissues.
