The is the First American Edition. Size: Octavo (standard book size). 100 pages. Text is in multiple languages. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Gray cloth over boards, color illustration on title page, Preface in English and in Chinese, text in Chinese and English, includes chapters on the tools of Chinese brush painting and their use, illustrated in color. Top edge of title page above the title has been snipped off probably to remove a name. In a color illustrated dust jacket that is soiled, chipped along edges, some taped repairs, missing some paper at head of spine, now in a Brodart jacket. This book is basically a practical guide to Chinese brush painting. "If oil painting may be compared to fiction and watercolor to an essay, then Chinese painting is poetry. Chinese painting utilizes few strokes to convey deep emotion. It uses little to express much. The beautiful rhythm of line, form and shadow is used to represent the soul of the painter.
