This gazetteer is actually made up of two parts: Part First is titled Geographical Gazetteer of Jefferson County, New York 1684-1890, Part Second is titled Business Directory of Jefferson County, New York 1890. This copy was rebound in a burgundy pebbled cloth over boards, with the the original spine label, front and back cover label, and front and back tooled leather decorations attached to the new binding, new endpapers, includes original title page for Part First with its facing page; Part First is 887 pages, Part Second is 345 pages (noted on page 345 that the "whole number of pages in this book, 1,247"); Part Second includes an Index to Illustrations (for the entire book), a General Index, an Index to Biographies, and Errata (Additions and Corrections); foldout map of the St. Lawrence Steamboat Express is bound in, and a Map of Jefferson County N.Y. is bound in inside back cover (which may have originally been bound in the text); illustrated with full-page portraits and illustrations of buildings. Leather from the original binding is lightly to moderately worn, there is some very occasional very light foxing to the textblock, pages lightly toned.
