The Bishop of Adelaide, Dr Reynolds who had once been a friend turned against her. The Archbishop of Sydney exercised power given him from Rome & stood down from her role as leader of The Sisters of St. Joseph. In her place he appointed Sr Bernard Walsh with whose decisions Mary did not always agree. Throughout these sixteen years Mary travelled throughout Australia & New Zealand; she wrote & received many letters.
