gilt titles spine; top edge blue; undated but circa 1945, book states fifth printing but D/J. states fourth; James Elroy Flecker was born at Lewisham in 1884, the eldest son of the Rev. W. H. Flecker, D. D., formerly Headmaster of Dean Close School, Cheltenham. He was educated at Uppingham and Trinity College, Oxford, then for two years studied Oriental languages at Caius College, Cambridge. He entered the Consular Service, proceeding first to Constautinoplc in 19 I 0 and to Smvrna ill the following year, when ill health compelled his retirement. His first collection of poems was published in 1907 and his Complete Poems in 19 I 6. The present selection is representative, largely drawn from his more mature work. Flecker died at Davos in 1915 at the early age of 31 and is buried at Cheltenham."; the intact D/J. is a little marked with light browning to spine & slight wear to some corners; Foyles bookshop label inside front cover; 68 pages.
