The last star of British silent cinema - Joan Morgan, daughter of Sidney Morgan, began her career in 1913 at a young age and featured in many films directed by her father. Written by her after the war 'This Was a Woman' was a success on the stage in London in 1944 and in Paris in 1947; in the three-act play Olivia Russell is outwardly a devoted wife and mother, the kind mistress of a happy home, and a sympathetic friend. But this suburban respectability conceals a sinister aspect of the feminine. A rather scruffy copy of this scarce play with repaired spine, loose front inner D/J. flap & pencil marks to margin denoting lines by character Russell. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. 83 pages. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Theatre & Plays; Britain/UK; 1940s; Theatre & Plays. Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: PLY00035.
