A volume (BE24) in Pevsner's 'The Buildings of England' series; b/w. map of the county at front; In size, Norfolk is the fourth among English counties, In population it comes twenty-ninth: that is, it is not an industrialized county. Norwich of course has its industries, Colman's, Boulton & Paul's, Jarrold's, and so on, but even Norwich has no more than 120,000 inhabitants (1961) and has hardly more than doubled them in a hundred years. And after Norwich there are Great Yarmouth with 53,000 and King's Lynn with 27,500, and then nothing over 7,000, though plenty of little country towns of between 2,000 and 7,000. They are one of the signs of the great riches of Norfolk in the past. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. 438 pages. minor marking to covers. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Dust Jacket un-clipped. initials J.F.F. in small circle stamped to front D/J., map & title page - barely visible. Black titles spine. illustrated by b/w. drawings & photo's..
