circa 1970; a brief autobiography by this Suffolk born (in 1851) man of the sea, whose father, a coastguard, drowned at Orford Ness when he was four, & giving details of his early voyages to the Far East, adventures living in Australia, & his return to Aldeburgh where after a few years crewing cruise boats he became, in 1880, second coxswain on the Aldeburgh life-boat. He served the Life-boat Institution for nearly forty years, becoming coxswain in 1888, & here recounts many of the brave & exciting rescues he was involved with. A scarce & interesting booklet.
