IX, 10-360 pages, last four pages blank, intentionally, notes, glossary and book list. Dark blue coloured cloth covered boards with silver titles to the backstrip. Bumping and rubbing to the backstrip edges and to the book corners. A few marks to the book boards and browning, foxing and a few stains to the text block edges. Browning and offset tanning to the endpapers and age toning of the internal text. Gift inscription (taking up half of the page) to the free front endpaper. Illustrated dustwrapper with brown and black titles to the front panel and backstrip. The best I can say about the dustwrapper is that it is mostly complete. Heavy rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the backstrip edges. There are pieces missing from the lower backstrip edge and to the top left-hand corner of the front dustwrapper panel. There are tears either side of the top backstrip edge, lower left-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel and three quarters of the front fold over crease. Heavy browning and staining, particularly noticeable on the verso of the dustwrapper, are also present. Gripping of the dustwrapper, front fold over, top right hand corner. Black and white photograph of author to the rear of fold over panel. In this book the author has told "... an account of the Jewish people and their faith as compelling and absorbing as one of his novels." -- from the front fold over panel blurb.
