Black coloured boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. Black-and-white photographic dustwrapper, showing a conning tower of a U-boat, with yellow and white titles to the front panel and backstrip. The biography of Captain Otto Kretschmer of the German U-boat -- U-99, who until his capture in 1941 had a reputation of being not only consummate Captain, at a man who also fought with honour and with humanity. Despite this, he caused more destruction on the high seas (with a daring new submarine attack) than any other commander -- EVER. Rubbing to the dustwrapper edges, dustwrapper creases and to the dustwrapper panels, particularly the rear panel.
