478 pages, glossary of musical terms, some brief biographies. The text is illustrated with sepia tone photographs in the biographical section. Black faux leather cover with embossed His Master's Voice logo (dog listening to a gramophone] with gray coloured titles to the backstrip. The book was bought separately to the cover and is held in place by a black cord. A little bumping to the book corners and backstrip edges. Some rubbing to the book panels. The actual book had some slight rubbing to the edges and browning to the internal text and text block edges. The book is held together with staples and the paper has slightly torn around the edges of those staples. Inserted loosely into the book are too small booklets one a catalogue for "records for May 1938" and from the same year and month "combined record supplement, world-famous artist series". The combined record supplement has a stamp across the top left-hand corner of the booklet, from the original bookseller.
