VIII, 384 pages. Red coloured boards with lack titles to the backstrip. Bumping and discolouration to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and discolouration to the top edge. Shelf wear to the lower book edges. Faint foxing and darkening of the backstrip and some marks to the book panels. Browning and foxing to the text block edges. Browning and foxing to the endpapers and throughout the book. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower edge of the front paced down. A previous owner has placed the number 311, the date 16/9/54 along with their signature to the top edge of the front paste-down. Illustrated dustwrapper, Illustrator not credited, with black and red titles to the front panel and backstrip. A little rubbing and creasing to the dustwrapper edges and minor chipping to the head and heel of the backstrip. The backstrip has become darkened and very noticeable water staining is present. Rubbing along either side of the backstrip and the fold over creases. The rear dustwrapper panel has become dull, stained and somewhat marked. There is a hole to the rear fold over crease 3 inches from the top edge. There are two small holes to the rear backstrip crease 3.5 inches from the top edge. There is a 0.25 " tear to the lower right-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel. The number 3954 has been stamped, in purple ink, to the lower right-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel. Staining, light foxing and some bleeding of the cloth to the lower backstrip edge to the verso of the dustwrapper.
