Dark blue coloured boards with gilt titles to the back strip. Bumping and a little rubbing to the head and to the heel of the back strip to the book corners. Browning to the text block edges. Offset tanning and browning to the endpapers. Previous owner's name to the top half of the three front end paper and there is a section of " whiteout " to the front paste-down. Plain text dustwrapper with grey background and blue titles to the front panel and back strip. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the top back strip edge. The remains of a sticker can be seen to the top right-hand corner of the front dustwrapper panel. Heavy sunning to the back strip, dustwrapper creases and lighter sunning to the panels of the dustwrapper. A book written in the 1950s about the then new ability to measure in finer and finer increments due to the new valves available for measuring instruments. This is the first UK edition.
