Illustrated endpapers showing a reproduction of a handbill for Players' Theater, 1952. The text is illustrated with black-and-white photography and back in white illustrations by Reginald Woolley. White coloured boards with small red illustration of a cherub sitting underneath three lights, with black writing on the front panel and spine. Bumping to the book corners and slight scuffing to the spine edges. Shelfwear to the lower book edges and the white of the background has become somewhat dull and grubby. Illustrated dustwrapper showing theatre curtains and a black-and-white illustration of a cherub underneath three lights, with a yellow background and black, yellow and white writing on the front panel and black on the spine. The dustwrapper is somewhat rubbed and faded. Rubbing to the dustwrapper corners and the spine has become quite grubby. The verso of the dustwrapper is very brown and foxed. There has been a tape repair to the top spine edge and the lower rear dustwrapper corner , tape still in situ. A tear measuring 0.25 " is present to the rear top dustwrapper edge. This book is a study of one the last bastions of Victorian Music Hall and Burlesque theatre in London in the 1950s. This is the first UK edition. Size: 4to 9�" - 12" tall. Dust Jacket price-clipped.
