Green coloured boards with black illustration on the front cover saying " For Circulation in India and British Colonies Only", with black writing on the front panel and spine. The condition of the book is awful! Corners of the book are bumped, rubbed and frayed, underlying board can be seen. Rubbing to the fore edges of the book, spine gutter edges and to the book panels. Shelf wear to the top and bottom book edges, bottom being particularly bad with underlying board visible. There are marks,? Paint, to the book panels, there has been sun damage to the spine causing darkening and there are rubbing points to the spine as well. The head and the heel of the spine are bumped, rubbed and frayed. Offset tanning to the endpapers along with foxing and other marks. Both the front and back hinge are split, but the book block is quite firm. Foxing, browning and handling marks are noticed in the internal pages. This book is an ex-library book, from the Hawthorn Circulating Library, which stamps are on the title page, pages 3, 9, 31, 45, 77, 127, 205, 253, 285. The stamp on the title page has been over stamped with a cancellation mark. On the same page there is a piece of the page missing, from the lower right-hand corner and on the top of the page the 178 has been written in Inc. Browning and foxing to the paper edges.
