Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece, showing John Macarthur. The text is illustrated with both coloured and black-and-white illustrations, black-and-white photography and maps. Maroon coloured boards with gilt illustration on the front panel and gilt writing on the spine. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing same illustration as for frontispiece, with green background and green decoration with red writing on the front panel and spine. Biography of John Macarthur, pastoralist, founder of Australian commercial enterprise and political agitator. Bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine and to the book corners. Browning and foxing to the paper edges. There is a printing fault associated with the cutting of the paper between pages XVII to Page 14, in that it is not cut flushly to that edges of the paper. Heavy foxing to the first few pages and the last few pages of the book and previous owner's name on the ffep. Corners of the dustwrapper are rubbed and chipped and on the rear fold over the bottom 1/2 of fold over is split. On the top rear fold over crease there is a 0.25 "tear. There is chipping and creasing to the top and bottom dustwrapper edges and on the top dustwrapper edge closest to the spine data varies a 1.5 "tear, and on her bottom front panel dustwrapper edge there is a 2" tear.
