There are black and white photographs illustrating the text. Bone coloured boards with black decoration and bone coloured writing on the front panel and black on the spine. The corners of the book are scuffed and there is staining to the bottom edges, the back panel has been damp at one stage and shows the result of same. The remains of water damage can be seen on the endpapers and between pages 72 and 73 the sewing of the book is visible. Photographic dustwrapper, showing "a gun grew in action" with white writing in front panel and spine. The edges of the dustwrapper are chipped and there is that split along the front fore edge measuring five ". The dustwrapper is rubbed and slightly faded. "...it simply records that Corvette Command was written in my sea - cabin during the course of 62 short convoys and 38 night patrols.". This is the first Australian edition.
