320pp., last two blank, forward by Salvador De Madariaga. Illustrated endpapers, showing a map of Romania and its environs along with routes taken by the author. Red coloured boards with gilt writing on the spine. Corners of the book are rubbed and bumped and shelf wear is evident to both the top and bottom book edges. The head and the heel of the spine a soft and bumped. Fading to the cloth has also occurred and there are some marks as well. Previous owners name on the ffep., there is also an erasure mark. Plain text dust wrapper, with grey and white background with black, red and purple writing on the front panel and spine. The dust wrapper is in poor shape. The corners are chipped, and there is chipping along the top and bottom edges with loss. The dustwrapper is very rubbed and faded and there are grubby marks to all surfaces.
