Coloured illustrated frontispiece, showing Australian Crimson Parrott, and within the text there are another 5 coloured plates, and 189 black and white illustrations. Blue coloured boards with gilt titles on front panel and spine. Corners of the book are rubbed and slightly bumped and shelf wear is evident to both the top and bottom edges of the book. The head and the heel of the spine are soft and bumped. There has been some staining and loss of colour to the book panels. The gilt writing and decoration to the front and back panel and spine has faded. Foxing and browning has occurred to the endpapers and the internal pages are also starting to brown, and all edges are also brown. The coloured plates are of birds.
