Octavo, revised edition, pp. xxii, 707, gravure plates, red cloth boards with gilt-stamped lettering to the spine and front, gilt outline of Illinois on front, large folding map in rear pocket. Part of the American Guide Series created by the Works Progress Administration during the Depression to give work to unemployed writers and photographers. Condition of this book: Fine. Jacket is chipped at spine ends with a small piece missing from the rear panel, internally reinforced at head of spine with binder's tape. Preserved in Brodart. Map is fine. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact.
