Octavo, second edition, pp. xxx, 746, gravure plates, green cloth boards stamped with orange lettering on spine and front. Part of the American Guide Series created by the Works Progress Administration during the Depression to give work to unemployed writers and photographers. Photos here by Russell Lee and other great Farm Security Administration photographers including Carl Mydans and Fritz Henle. Dust jackets for this series can be hard to find, especially with the price intact on the front flap. Condition of this book: Very good with light edge wear and tears in a blank leaf at the back, in a good bright jacket with chips at extremities, a tear where the rear panel meets the spine, internally reinforced by binder's tape. Preserved in Brodart. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact.
