First-edition green and yellow jacket with original $2.50 price on front flap. This is a variant state of the first-edition jacket in that it says "Author's Edition" on the front panel and "With new material on the background and interpretation of this epoch-making novel. ..." (The first state says "A Book-of-the Month Club Selection," according to Bruccoli, First Printings of American Authors, V.1, p. 427.) Condition of this book: Dust jacket chipping at edges, small blemish in front panel, overall very good. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
